Our
Reflexion
To sum up,
during the history of mankind, society has tried to come up with rules
that would protect human beings. As it is common knowledge, these rules
were extremely bias, protecting only white males. Nevertheless, society
has grown and has become more tolerant and acceptant. Our history has
shown that the fight for human rights was a long road, a road we still
need to cross, as the fight is not finished.
Unfortunately,
we have acknowledged that in several countries in the world many rights
are still not guaranteed to all citzens. The right for a decent meal,
for a roof to live under, for a safe work environment, for medical
assistance, for learning, for not being attacked and feeling safe, for
not being discriminate based on our gender or skin colour are the rights
we approach in our project; however, there are so many more we could
choose from.
During our
research about the violation of human rights in the world, the figures
we found were absolutely terrifying.
It is
unbelievable the number of people who cannot access basic services, that
we, privileged people, take for granted. A routine as normal as going to
school, have two nice and tasty meals, a warm bath and a cozy bed to
sleep in is not guaranteed to everyone.
This teamwork
has made us not only appreciate what we have, but also understand the
precarious situation around the world. Even though this is a project
about some foreign countries, we cannot forget that in Portugal there
are many Portuguese who also coexist with the lack of rights. And this
fact is not all right. There is a pressing need we must be aware of, the
needing of looking around us and try to understand if someone needs our
help.
Many of us
are lucky, many others are not. If you belong to the latter, asking for help is as natural as breathing for us humans. If you belong
to the first group fight for those who need, vote for a government who
will hear and answer the poors' needs.
