MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE 1ST INTERNATIONAL BIENNIAL
OF CONTEMPORARY ART OF AVEIRO
On the tenth of September
of two thousand and six, the Jury of the Aveiro Award, composed by
Bernardo Pinto de Almeida, António Quadros Ferreira, Ana Luísa Barão,
José Maçãs de Carvalho and Joana Neves, mel and considered ali the art
works presented and selected seventy-seven works by forty-eight artists
as being susceptible of integrating the 1st International Biennial of
Contemporary Art of Aveiro Exhibition. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Faced with a significant
set of works, the quality of which, in their view, justified its public
exhibition, the Jury saw fit to highlight the works by Diana Costa,
Duarte Vitória, Elisabeth Leite, Gervásio, Inês Pessanha, José Maia,
Mário Vitória, Pascal Ferreira and Dalila Vaz, as being worthy of
receiving an award. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Regarding this last set of
works, the Jury deliberated unanimously to grant the award to José Maia
and honourable mentions to Dalila Vaz (Photography), Inês Pessanha
(Drawing) and Pascal Ferreira (Sculpture). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Jury aIso pointed out
the high quality of the works exhibited, congratulating itself on this
initiative, which gains a national dimension with this first exhibition.

For
future exhibitions, the Jury decided to recommend the possibility of the
award being given ex-equo, as well as attributing honorable mentions
within the same category.

Reunido no dia Dez de Setembro de Dois
Mil e Seis, o Júri do Prémio Aveiro, constituído por Bernardo Pinto de
Almeida, António Quadros Ferreira, Ana Luísa Barão, José Maçãs de
Carvalho e Joana Neves, depois de considerar a totalidade dos trabalhos
presentes, entendeu seleccionar setenta e sete trabalhos de quarenta e
oito artistas, susceptíveis de integrarem a Mostra da 1 a Bienal
lnternacional de Arte Contemporânea de Aveiro.

Face a este conjunto significativo de
trabalhos, em que se reconheceu qualidade justificativa de apresentação
pública, entendeu o Júri destacar os trabalhos de Diana Costa, Duarte
Vitória, Elisabeth Leite, Gervásio, Inês Pessanha, José Maia, Mário
Vitória, Pascal Ferreira e Dalila Vaz, como susceptíveis de ser
premiados.

Sobre este último conjunto, o Júri
deliberou por unanimidade conceder o prémio a José Maia e menções
honrosas a Dalila Vaz (fotografia), Inês Pessanha (desenho) e Pascal
Ferreira (escultura). -----
O Júri salientou ainda a elevada
qualidade dos trabalhos apresentados, congratulando-se com a iniciativa,
que ganha, neste seu primeiro certame, uma dimensão nacional.

Para futuras edições, o Júri entendeu
recomendar a possibilidade de o prémio vir a ser atribuído ex-equo, bem
como que as menções honrosas possam ser outorgadas na mesma categoria.
